The "Antica Pasticceria del Convento" is located in Erice, Via G. F. Guarnotti, at the corner of Piazza San Domenico.

Inside the pastry is the statue of St. Jacques de Compostela, and that fact could make think it's been put there for any purpose.

Instead, the statue was already there, in that place that once was the ancient Church of shoemakers. After many twists and turns was restored, while a strange and curious fate wanted that the pastry was handled by Mrs. Giacoma. The "Antica Pasticceria del Convento" by Pirro Giacoma, grandson of Maria Grammatico, is best known for the typical almond-based sweets of Erice, as "dessier", "palline", "dolci di badia", "belli e brutti", and the "frutta di martorana" (marzipan), which made it known throughout the world.

Throughout the year you can enjoy freshly baked, the "Genovese" with cream, or the "Mustaccioli" and "paste volanti" or cookies, whose production, entirely manual, continues the tradition of the nuns of Erice. Even the traditional pastry is neglected, and the Cannoli, tarts and cookies enrich its storefronts. For special occasions, such as meetings, birthdays or weddings, customers can always rely on creativity and the experience of Mrs. Giacoma and his associates.
